Nikkeijin Scholarship
Information
- This scholarship was designed to assist students of Japanese ancestry (first priority) or those who are missionaries to Japanese communities (second priority) to complete their education. The scholarship is made possible by the generous gifts of a private donor family that has a heart for the Japanese population and those who serve that population.

Award Amount
- Up to $1,000.00 per session

Eligibility
- Applicants must be of Japanese ancestry or serving as a missionary to a Japanese community (priority explained in information section)
- Applicants must be degree seeking
- Applicants must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher
- Applicants must be in good financial standing with the university
- American Samoa students must reside in American Samoa
- Hawaii students must be advised by a Hawaii Campus Advisor

Required Documents

E-mail documents to Dr. Henrique Regina (hregina@wbu.edu) or mail/deliver to Kapolei campus:
- Scholarship Application Form
- Submit a new application every session
- Request Letter (1-2 Pages) to the WBU Scholarship Committee
- Write/update letter at least once per academic year (valid Fall, Spring, and Summer), but include that letter every time you apply for scholarship.
- Include enrollment plans (full time/part-time, degree plan, course, etc.)
- Explain how your program will help you meet your future goals
- Explain your financial need (why you need financial help)
- Passport (from Japan) or Birth Certificate (at least one parent from Japan)
- If applicant is a missionary to Japanese communities (not of Japanese ancestry), provide a letter from church senior pastor describing applicant's qualifying mission responsibilities.
