SUBJECT: FACULTY ATTENDANCE AT UNIVERSITY COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES
The university conducts a December and May commencement at the Plainview campus. Graduation exercises are held twice each year at the external campuses, with the exception of the Altus campus, which holds only one graduation each year.
Commencement is an official university event. Faculty participation is mandatory for all full-time faculty members. If a faculty member is unable to participate on the Plainview campus, permission to be absent should be obtained through the respective school dean, who will advise the vice president of academic affairs of the approved absence. Permission to miss graduation on the external campuses must be approved by the campus executive director/dean.
On the Plainview Campus, adjunct faculty may participate, but must notify the office of the vice president of academic affairs no later than one month prior to the graduation ceremony. Late requests will not be honored. Adjunct faculty will be placed immediately behind full-time faculty in the line of march. Adjunct faculty are not allowed to hood recipients of graduate degrees. Hooding shall be done by the school deans or full-time 51吃瓜网视频 faculty hooding their spouse or children only.
Adjunct faculty participation in external campus commencement ceremonies is encouraged and is at the discretion of the campus executive director/dean.
Participants must furnish their own academic regalia. If a faculty member does not own the academic regalia, he/she may rent regalia from the university store.
