SUBJECT:         USE OF LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER COMPUTERS

 

Introduction - The computers at the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Learning Resources Center (LRC) are provided to support the educational and Christian goals of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Baptist University. Computer use is governed by the policies of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Baptist University as set forth by University Policies Section 6. Failure to comply with these policies may result in the loss of usage privileges.

 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ faculty and students have priority access to computers in the LRC. Visiting faculty, university guests, and students enrolled in other academic institutions may request a one-session guest pass at the reference desk to use one of the computers upon presentation of valid, photo ID. Students must present photo ID from their academic institution. LRC staff may provide access to TexShare databases upon request. Public access computers are not available in the Mabee LRC.

 

Automatic and immediate suspension of user access will occur upon determination that a user has attempted or succeeded in any of the following:

 

Inappropriate use of computers including but not limited to email or electronic communication -

 posting, sending, or creating any pornographic messages, images,

  • posting, sending, or creating threatening, harassing, sexually explicit, or intentionally embarrassing messages
  • posting, sending, or creating messages that can be considered sexual harassment

 Sexual harassment includes “unwanted exposure to sexual graffiti, photographs or suggestive objects; sexual innuendos or statements made at inappropriate times or disguised as humor, or obscene gestures; disparaging remarks about one’s gender”

 Individuals who feel that their access has been unjustly terminated may appeal to the director of library services and/or to the vice president of academic affairs.
