SUBJECT: UNIVERSITY IDENTIFICATION GUIDELINES

All printed or manufactured items prepared by, or for, the university must contain appropriate identification that conforms to the following guidelines. Any departures from these guidelines must be approved in advance through the director of public relations and communications.

Identifying University Items - All printed items for external use prepared by or for, the university must carry identification:

  1. The university seal may be used as stipulated below.
  2. The university logos may be used as stipulated below.
  3. Where size limitations prevent the use of either the seal or the logos, the full name of the university should appear: 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Baptist University in Serif typeface.

No other insignia, emblem, or device may be used to represent the university without the prior approval of the director of public relations and communications.

Use of University Seal - The official seal of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Baptist University may be used as a single unaltered unit on the following:

  1. Diplomas
  2. Class rings
  3. Transcript forms
  4. Official University reports
  5. Office of the President Invitations and Communications
  6. University policies

In all instances, the proper negative(s) must be used for printing the seal. No materials intended for external distribution using the seal may be printed or photocopied from copies of the seal.

Use of University Logo - The official university logo may be used on printed or manufactured items prepared by, or for, the university.

Formal Logo - The logo consists of the flame to the left of the university name. The word "51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ" will appear in upper case in the Garamond typeface: "Baptist University" will appear centered below the university name in Garamond typeface. Any use of the flame without the name must be approved on a case-by-case basis by the director of communications.

Whenever possible, the logo will be printed in two colors: blue text and gold flame. When only one-color printing is used, the logo will be printed in black.

The approved shade of blue ink is the PMS 280 or 281. ("PMS" refers to Pantone Matching System, an internationally recognized standard for color matching, and can be specified in external campus production). The approved gold shade is PMS 123 or 116.

Stationery - All official university letterheads and envelopes will be printed in the specified blue and gold on 24-pound White Linen Writing stock. Business cards will be printed in the specified blue and gold ink on 65-pound White Linen Cover stock. All official university letterheads, envelopes, and business cards will conform to the standard design available from the Office of Communications. Any deviations must be approved by the Office of the President.

Forms for external distribution may be printed in one or two colors of ink on white stock. (Two colors: blue and gold; one color: black or blue).

In all instances, the proper negative(s) must be used for printing the seal and logos. No materials intended for external distribution using the logos may be printed or photocopied from the copies of the seal and logos.

Uses of the seal and logos on specialty items (T-shirts, cups, pens, etc.) must be approved by the executive director of marketing.

Use of the seal and logos in films, videos, slides, overhead transparencies, etc. for external applications must be approved by the executive director of marketing.
