SUBJECT: STUDENT FAMILY HOUSING - PLAINVIEW CAMPUS
51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Baptist University's Plainview campus offers housing to married/single-parent students.
Application - Students who wish to apply for family housing must do so in the Office of Student Housing. As housing is usually at a premium, it is necessary to maintain a waiting list of prospective tenants. Students who complete an application for housing will be placed on the waiting list if housing is not immediately available. As units become available, assignments will be made.
Eligibility criteria for 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ housing are as follows:
- enrollment of at least 12 semester hours at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Baptist University,
- marriage at the time of occupancy, or
- single-parent residing with a child.
In special circumstances, single students may be eligible for student family housing. Students should submit a letter of appeal to the executive director of student services for consideration.
A single student, whose appeal has been granted by the dean of students, may be assigned as apartments become available.
New students must have completed the application process and granted a Permit to Enter before being assigned to an apartment.
Leasing - Students offered a rental unit will be required to sign a lease agreement delineating their rights and responsibilities as tenants. The lease must be signed prior to occupancy. Students must abide by the requirements of the lease or may face eviction. Students who sign a lease must pay a deposit in the university business office. This deposit is refundable upon move-out barring any damages or cleaning costs. Rent charges will be allocated and collected through the university business office according to the terms of the lease agreement.
Students may be subject to a credit check by the Office of Student Housing prior to occupancy. If the credit check is not approved, the student will become ineligible for the lease.
