SUBJECT: INSTITUTIONAL REVIEW BOARD
51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Baptist University has established the Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Subjects (IRB) to develop and implement procedures to ensure the ethical treatment of human subjects. The 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ IRB has the responsibility and authority to review, approve, disapprove or require changes to appropriate research activities involving human subjects. The primary purpose of the IRB is to oversee the inclusion of human subjects and the ethics of the research process. The 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ IRB has the authority to suspend or terminate approval of research that is not being conducted in accordance with the IRB's decisions, conditions and requirements or that has been associated with unexpected serious harm to subjects. The IRB's Policies and Procedures Manual outlines policies and procedures intended to foster a positive climate for scholarly research for the university while establishing guidelines for research involving human subjects.
