51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ hosting Spring Job and Graduate Fair March 7

PLAINVIEW, TX — 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Baptist University’s Pioneer Career Center plans to host the Spring Job and Graduate School Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, March 7, in the Laney Student Activities Center.

“This is an event where employers, recruiters, and schools can provide information to potential employees,” said Jeffrey Vera, Director of Career Service and Alumni Relations. “We hope to create a bridge connecting our current students with the professional workforce, military, and graduate schools in the area, amplifying the potential we have here at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ.”

Vera noted that the wonderful thing about the fair is that it not only serves as a bridge to our students, but it also serves as a bridge between the university and Plainview and the surrounding area.

“This is a perfect opportunity to bring the job hub to our students,” the career services director said. “We hope this will provide a jump start for our May graduates and help them land a job before they graduate.”

He said the hope is that the event creates inroads for internships and employment opportunities, as well as sources for networking leads.

“Candidates can benefit from direct contact with companies of their choice from the Secret Service to United Supermarkets,” Vera said.

More than 40 employers and educational institutions have reserved space at the Spring Job and Graduate School Fair, including eight school districts, six medical facilities, four graduate programs, three municipalities.

“We have employers like the U.S. Secret Service, United Supermarkets, and the U.S. Air Force coming,” Vera said. “This fair is going to have everything from financial institutions and high-tech companies to camps, law enforcement agencies, and non-profit organizations, and all are looking to recruit employees.”

Employers and graduate programs have until Feb. 29 to register to be a part of the fair. Free registration is available at
