Celebrating the determination and hard work of Annalicia Hernandez

PLAINVIEW, TX — 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Baptist University is proud to spotlight the dedication and spirit of Annalicia Hernandez, a student from Lockney who has exemplified perseverance and commitment by working four jobs during the summer to support her education as well as help others.

“Annalicia’s story is one of true grit and grace. Her ability to manage multiple responsibilities, care for others, and pursue her academic dreams is nothing short of inspiring,” said Dr. Donna Hedgepath, President of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Baptist University. “She embodies the values we hold dear at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ, and we are incredibly proud to have her as part of our community.”

A sophomore majoring in middle school mathematics education, Annalicia took on a diverse array of roles, each contributing uniquely to her personal and professional growth. She managed The Beach House, a snow cone shop in Lockney, where she was not just a manager but a leader, scheduling shifts and overseeing daily operations. Her responsibilities didn’t end there; She also worked with 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ’s Student Success team.

Further extending her impact, Annalicia served as a children’s worker at Plainview First Assembly, where she initially volunteered and was later offered a paid position. She continues to be employed by the church, working with children ages 3 to 5, organizing activities and camps while fostering a nurturing Christian environment for children.

Not all of Annalicia’s activities were paid gigs. In June, she participated in a mission trip to Alaska with a group from 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ. She helped conduct a sports camp for children, exemplifying her dedication to service and community outreach. In August, she was a volunteer for Koinonia, the university’s new student orientation program.

Annalicia answered another call to service when 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ needed to open Owen Hall early for Summer Bridge program participants. She took on the position of a resident assistant, where she continues to play a crucial role in supporting and guiding new freshmen.

Despite the demanding schedule, Annalicia is maintaining her academic pursuits. She recently changed her major to better align with her passion for teaching younger students, reflecting her adaptability as well as her focus on long-term goals.

Reflecting on her busy summer, Annalicia shared, “It was definitely challenging, but I learned a lot about leadership, responsibility, and myself. I’ve always believed that staying busy helps keep me focused and positive. It’s important to me to be self-sufficient and support my education through hard work.”

Annalicia looks forward to continuing her education and extracurricular engagements at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ, aiming to make the Dean's List and to participate in the university's track program, further showcasing her commitment to excellence in every aspect of her university life.

51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Baptist University is honored to support students like Annalicia, who not only pursue academic excellence but also contribute significantly to their communities and embody the spirit of service that is central to 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ’s Christ-centered mission.
