Academic Excellence Week celebrates student achievement

PLAINVIEW — 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ Baptist University is shining a spotlight on scholarly achievement, creative expression, and academic rigor as it hosts its annual Academic Excellence Week from April 22 through May 2.

The celebration features a wide range of public events designed to honor student success, recognize academic champions, and promote the diverse academic strengths of the university.

“Academic Excellence Week is a meaningful tradition at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ,” said Dr. Cindy McClenagan, Vice President of Academic Affairs. “It’s an opportunity to celebrate our students’ hard work and creativity, as well as the dedication of our faculty who challenge and inspire them to excel.”

The series kicked off April 22 with the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences’ “Celebrating Society” showcase and the School of Humanities and Leadership’s annual Writer’s Symposium. Events continue through May 2, with highlights including:

  • Thursday, April 24: Amy Dodson presents “Strong Schools and Strong Communities: Facts, Myths, and What’s Next for Texas K-12” at the Don A. Williams School of Education event in the Pete and Nelda Laney Student Activities Center (5:30-7:30 p.m.).
  • Friday, April 25: Reception for the Senior Art Show by Brandon Williams of the School of Creative Arts at the Mabee Regional Heritage Center.
  • Saturday, April 26: The School of Creative Arts present the Spring Choral Concert at 7 p.m. in Harral Auditorium. The concert features the same music the choirs will perform a Carnegie Hall in June.
  • Monday, April 28: A Commissioning Service for School of Christian Studies students and an Honors Program Family History Fair.
  • Wednesday, April 30: Student Awards Chapel, School of Business reception, and education program presentations.
  • Thursday, May 1: A university-wide Celebration of Excellence in the Trinity Building, recognizing Honor Society inductees and top scholars.
  • Friday, May 2: Research Day hosted by the Kenneth L. Mattox School of Mathematics and Sciences concludes the academic celebration.

All events are open to the public, and each event is designed not only to showcase the talents and hard work of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ students but also to foster community connections and emphasize the university’s commitment to academic excellence across all disciplines. Community members are encouraged to attend and support 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ’s scholars and future leaders.
