51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Esports Welcomes Two New Players for Fall 2025 Season

On March 28th Coach Duncan Sweeney held tryouts for high school students interested in 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Esports. During this tryout he signed on two new players for the Fall 2025 school term.

Shadon, also known as Universe, is a Super Smash Bros player from Levelland. Another signing we had was Josiah, who signed on for the Fortnite team and is a local student here in Plainview. Coach Sweeney was very impressed with both students’ tryouts. He said “Universe did very well in both his warmup and the actual tryout. He got Sonic into elite smash and took seven stocks in his tryout”. For those who may not know, elite smash is the top 3% of all online competitors in the world. He has competed in several high school tournaments and consistently places in the top four. Coach also said Josiah performed very well and he is excited to have another Plainview local compete for 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ esports. The Fortnite team captains were also excited to hear about the news and look forward to training with him in the future. He also said there are other prospecting students from around the state as well as locally here in town.

Rocket league is losing two of their seniors and are looking for replacements. The team captain of Rocket League said there are several promising candidates to fill in the two spots needed. Smash Bros and Rainbow Six are also losing four seniors a piece this year and are continuing to look for more recruits. Coach wants the public to know that anyone can tryout and earn their place on one of the many esports’ teams 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ has.

Tryouts will continue throughout the year for Rocket league, Fortnite, Super Smash Bros, Rainbow Six Siege, Marvel Rivals, Overwatch, Apex, and Call of Duty. Things are looking on the up and up as 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Esports prepares for playoffs this semester and starting new teams next semester.
