Students in the School of Education begin on-site, interactive observation in local classrooms as sophomores, producing well-prepared students who have more real-life work experience upon graduation. Additionally, qualified students are invited to join the local, active chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the national honor society for education students.
The Department of Exercise Sports Science offers a major and minor in exercise sports science and coaching, as well as an all-level physical education program. This program satisfies the requirements for graduates who wish to sit for a physical education certificate exam in the state of Texas.
51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ’s EXSS department also houses four fitness management programs that prepare students for graduate studies, with one track leading to two separate professional certifications. Through our personal training program students take the national personal training certification exam as part of a senior-level course.
Participants in the fitness management programs have the unique chance to actively pursue live clinical experience by becoming an athletic trainer for any of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ’s competitive athletics teams beginning as early as freshman year.
Also, all students of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ’s Department of Exercise Sports Science are invited to participate in the Exercise and Sports Science Club, which promotes awareness and participation in exercise, health, nutrition, sports, and fitness management.
