Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA)
The 77th Texas Legislature passed House Bill 1403 in 2001 (later amended by Senate Bill 1528 in 2005), granting certain non-immigrant students, including undocumented students, access to state financial aid. The Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) is a financial aid application for students who are classified as Texas Residents but who cannot apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) but may qualify for state financial aid through HB 1403 or SB 1528.
Students who submit a TASFA and supporting documentation by the state priority submission date of April 15, 2024 will receive priority consideration for state and institutional resources at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ for the 2024-25 academic year.
Types of Financial Aid Available
- Undergraduate Students: WBU Scholarships (Plainview campus only), Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG), College Access Loan (CAL), Private Education Loan (with credit-worthy, U.S. resident co-signer)
- Graduate/Professional Students: Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG), College Access Loan (CAL), Private Education Loan (with credit-worthy, U.S. resident co-signer)

- Signed and fully completed TASFA
- Texas Core Residency Questionnaire
- 2024-25 TASFA requires 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Tax Return (signed) or 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Tax Return Transcript for student and parent(s)
- 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Form W-2(s) and/or signed statement of earnings may be provided in lieu of Tax Return or Tax Transcript if taxes were not filed
2023-24 Academic Year
- Signed and fully completed TASFA
- Texas Core Residency Questionnaire
- 2023-24 TASFA requires 2021 Tax Return (signed) or 2021 Tax Return Transcript for student and parent(s)
- 2021 Form W-2(s) and/or signed statement of earnings may be provided in lieu of Tax Return or Tax Transcript if taxes were not filed

Award Range
- WBU Scholarships - awards vary.
- Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG) - The maximum award for the 2024-25 academic year is $3,873. Undergraduate students with an Student Aid Index (SAI) [formerly Expected Family Contribution (EFC)] of less than or equal to 3,698 may receive up to $5,810.
- College Access Loan (CAL) - Students may borrow up to their estimated cost of attendance less any other assistance received.
- Private Education Loan - Students may borrow up to their estimated cost of attendance less any other assistance received.
