SUBJECT: UNIVERSITY COUNSELING SERVICES
The counseling center provides counseling related to personal, marital, family, career, academic, and/or substance abuse issues.
The counseling center also provides periodic educational programming related to mental health issues, and works closely with other student development personnel to promote student growth and serves as a referral agent when it is determined that a client would be better served by some other agency.
51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ students, faculty, staff and immediate family members are eligible at no cost for service provided by the center. In the case of scheduling conflicts, students will be given first priority for appointments.
Counseling records and other information remains confidential unless consent is given by the client. Staff will conform to the accepted professional standards in the case of threat of harm to self or others.
Information on students will not be available to 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ faculty without the consent of the student in question.
The counseling staff will make a determination, in conjunction with the executive director of student services and the university legal counsel, regarding actions to be taken in the case of suicide attempts or threats, or threats of harm to others.
To maintain strictest confidentiality, the Director of Counseling, Career, and Disability Services will be the official custodian of counseling records.
