51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Baptist University’s School of Humanities and Leadership is proud to host our annual Hispanic performance and art competition, Festival Hispano de Cultura y Lengua. This event offers high school students a unique opportunity to showcase their talents and abilities in Spanish performance and art along with peers from other area schools.

Categories of Competition and Performance Opportunities
Participants will recite a published (non-original) poem. Poetry should be 3-7 minutes long and judged based on preparation, delivery, stage presence, pronunciation, and voice.
Participants will recite an original poem, short fiction, or dramatic dialogue. Judging criteria include preparation, delivery, stage presence, and creativity.
Students will demonstrate their ability to speak extemporaneously on a given topic in Spanish. Judging will focus on improvisation, delivery, and creativity.
Participants will write an academic essay in Spanish, submitted a week before the competition. Essays will be judged on preparation, word choice, and grammar.
Participants can showcase their talents in singing, music, dance, or skits. Acts should be no longer than 5 minutes and judged based on preparation, stage presence, and execution.
Art submissions must represent Hispanic culture and can be entered into categories such as 3-D (Large and small Piñatas, Sculptures, Dioramas) or 2-D (Painting, Drawings, Photography, Graphic Design).
