Harral Auditorium
The Harral Memorial Auditorium is a 1,256 seat auditorium built in 1968. It serves as one of the main performance spaces on 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ's campus as well as the surrounding community.
It features a large stage, spacious wing space, and Broadway style dressing rooms with entrances on both sides of the backstage area. It averages 350 reservations per year and has hosted famous artists such as Neil Diamond, Rebecca St. James, Newsboys, Kutless, and Former First Lady Laura Bush.
Practice Rooms
In 2014 the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Department of Music earned All-Steinway School designation. All pianos used for teaching, practice, and performance are Steinway instruments. The program is served by a mixture of 30 Steinway & Sons, Boston and Essex instruments - concert grand pianos, studio teaching grand pianos, and upright teaching and practice pianos. Students with piano as their primary instrument enjoy use of a dedicated Steinway & Sons 1098 upright piano in their secured practice room in addition to the opportunity to rehearse and perform on concert grand pianos.
Music Lab
The Jones-Franklin Music Technology Lab exists solely for music-related instruction, study, research, and practice by currently enrolled 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Baptist University students. The lab is the location for group piano classes, tutorial sessions for the Piano Proficiency Exam (MUSI 0002), for Orchestration (MUSI 4216), Applied Private Composition, and Music Technology (MUSI 3302), and for students completing assignments for these classes. Other faculty or classes make occasional use of the facility, but always for music-related coursework or activities.
Each of the 15 student workstations in lab is equipped as follows:
- Korg Triton LE-88 Music Workstation keyboards
- Macintosh iMac 20" computers; 4GB RAM; 320GB HD
- Finale ® Music Notation Software
- Microsoft Office for Mac
- MacGamut Aural Skills software
These workstations are designed specifically for music production and music education. The 88-key synthesizers have weighted keys which create an optimum environment both for preparing for the Piano Proficiency Examination and for music performance.
