Friends of the Arts Membership Drive

The 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Baptist University Department of Music unites future music professionals and dedicated faculty within a mentor-apprenticeship culture devoted to the promotion of musical excellence, entrepreneurial vision, and Christ-centered servant-leadership.

At 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ, students are considered colleagues from the first day of class. Our apprenticeship model provides the best in hands-on learning. Degree options include music education, performance, worship studies, theory/composition, American music studies, and general music.

Summer 2019 Student Highlights:

School of Music Study Tour to Munich, Prague and Vienna - 8 students and 8 faculty, staff and guests traveled under the leadership of Dr. Richard Fountain and Dr. Kennith Freeman. Students attended multiple concerts events, visited historic musical venues, and the Dachau concentration camp.

Erin Pearce (senior from Clovis, NM - Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance) auditioned and was accepted to attend the Varna Opera Academy in Varna, Bulgaria. Erin auditioned through the National Association of Teachers of Singing annual competition program.

Wiley Hawkins (senior from Plainview, TX - Bachelor of Arts, General Music, Jazz Certificate) auditioned and was accepted to the Raphael Mendez Brass Institute in Denver, Colorado this summer. Wiley took private tuba lessons and participated in multiple small chamber ensembles as a part of the summer curriculum.

Colton Langston - trumpet (junior from Plainview, TX - Bachelor of Music Instrumental Music Education) and Matthew Flores - percussion (junior from Olton, TX - Bachelor of Instrumental Music Education) served the Salvation Army as music teachers/counselors at Camp Hoblitzelle in Midlothian, TX for the summer months.
